Welcome to For Wildlife Fund

funding natural conservation

About us

mission & team

What we do

For Wildlife is a non-profit Trust is based in Johannesburg, set up to provide resources for conservation outcomes by way of providing product, services or cash. It is positioned to attract funding mainly from the private sector offering all the relevant advantages.

In order to achieve this, we use innovative, creative ways of attracting funds.

Our conservation mandate is innovative while staying scientifically relevant, addressing the causes of conservation problems and acting in line with donors wishes to provide tangible results.

The For Wildlife Conservation Mandate

Primary objectives:
For Wildlife’s primary wildlife conservation objective is to grow and protect scientifically relevant and conservation sensitive wilderness spaces. All land that has conservation relevance will be considered for possible rehabilitation and protection through:

  • Land acquisition / lease title acquisition
  • Management control
  • Fence dropping programmes

Secondary objectives:
For Wildlife will support and further enable ongoing conservation initiatives and specific programmes which have scientifically relevant conservation outcomes and show tangible impact. We can do this by:

  • Offering resources and funding to specific projects
  • Initiating and managing conservation projects
  • Facilitating interventions at management level

Sustainability

one touch of nature makes the whole world kin.

After researching and generating the IP over 127 separate properties around Southern Africa, the For Wildlife has been able to determine an average cost, per square meter, for the effective operations of an area-based conservation project. This includes all aspects such as staffing, infrastructure, resources, research and more.

For Wildlife has built in a 50-year sustainability buffer which will allow for continued and sustainable conservation success for a minimum of 50 years, but in reality it could be well beyond this if factors like crypto currency value and property value are taken into account over time. Many wildlife areas are in dire need of systemic rehabilitation, and this is achievable in much less than 50 years; so conservation progress can be assured.

Positive feedback loops in natural systems resulting from functioning natural processes leads to successful conservation if effective security and protection is in place; this then compounds the success of the project.

With this 50 year sustainability model in mind and with access to our team and resources, For Wildlife has been able to identify project areas and budget accurately for potential implementation.

Urgent Funding - Electric Silent Patrol Vehicle for Anti-Poaching

Poachers move at night because they can hear vehicles engines and see their lights. We are developing anti-poaching cars which are electric, silent, and with night vision can drive with no lights at night.

This will enable wildlife protection officers to see the poachers and approach them, without them knowing, and thus catch them and end poaching.
